We are looking for local hosts to bring Dear Sirs to their community. Whether you are affiliated with an American Legion Post, or you’re just passionate about sharing veterans’ stories, our screening toolkit makes it straightforward and accessible for you to host a screening in your community.
When can I host a screening event?
Anytime after January 1, 2022! If you’d like the filmmakers to participate in your event, we’ll need to work together on scheduling for a date that works for everyone. We’ll be in touch once we receive your initial survey response to start organizing your event!
Where can I host my community screening of Dear Sirs?
The best option is to get a local theater to donate or discount their space for the night. Dear Sirs has an incredible original score and soundscape that are best featured in a surround sound theater. The second best option is any local venue with a projector, screen, and sound capabilities. This may include a school auditorium, a library, local church, or community center.
How much does it cost to host a screening of Dear Sirs and what are the options for paying for it?
In order to support our small team, we charge a small license fee that gets you access to the film and our Screening Toolkit. Additional costs will depend on the options you choose to supplement your screening. For example:

We’re here to help! Once you’ve decided to host a screening of the film, we’ll send you our turnkey Screening Toolkit with everything you need to host a screening (step-by-step guide, event planning timeline, event ideas, technology guidelines, press-kit, promotional content, and graphical assets for custom fliers, posters, and social media posts).
How long is the film, and how long should I plan my event to be?
Dear Sirs is a feature-length documentary with a running time of 93 minutes. We recommend a 15-20 minute Q&A, panel, or discussion to follow. If there is a dinner we recommend that it happens after the screening so that your audience can discuss the film over the meal. In total, plan for your event to last 2-3 hours if you plan on pairing additional activities with the screening.

We hope you’ll invite your whole community! Our goal with this film is to bring people together over a shared history. Whether it’s WWII, military history in general, family history, or just a love of bicycling, we know there'll be meaningful conversations surrounding the film. All of that being said, we also recognize the power of this film to build on existing relationships, so we also fully support more intimate screenings within your organization which can bolster trust, openness, and support.

There a variety of ways to cover the costs of hosting a screening:
- Self-Funded - this method provides you and your organization maximum flexibility and ease (simply use our secure online payment portal).
- Local Sponsor Funded - your organization pairs with a local sponsor to fund the event.
- Ticket Sales - you choose the price of tickets; can easily be combined with a local raffle and/or cocktail hour / dinner!
- National Sponsor Funded - We are currently working to find a national sponsor to fund several community screenings, but slots will be very limited!
- Local in-kind donations - this can be a great way to cover or reduce the costs of venue rental, staffing your event, printing, and other supplies.
How can I make my event meaningful?
To make your screening of Dear Sirs meaningful for you and your audience try pairing the screening with one of the following:
- Q&A and meet and greet with the filmmakers
- Fundraiser for local veterans (raffle, auction, or ticket sales)
- Community dinner
- Local speaker or panel
- Social hour before the screening
- Membership drive for your organization
- Community reception at your local American Legion or VFW Post
- Presentation of Colors by a local Color guard
- Live music to start the show
